Magic/Memphis preview
The first-place Magic, at 7-3 and winners of 5 in a row and 6 of 7, face the Memphis Grizzlies, who have the worst record in the NBA at 1-8, and won't have center Pau Gasol back until JAN. MEM is coming off a 89-84 home loss to DAL on SAT. Talented rookie forward Rudy Gay scored 23 pts to lead the Grizzlies.
Former Magic G Chucky Atkins leads MEM in scoring with 16.1 ppg. Former Magic rookie-of-the-year Mike Miller is averaging 15.4 ppg and 6.9 rebs. Forward Hakim Warrick (13.7 ppg) and PF Stromile Swift (12.0 ppg) also average in double figures. Rudy Gay averages 9.9 ppg. MEM averages 93.9 ppg, while allowing 98.7 ppg. ORL averages 97.7 ppg, while allowing 94.6 ppg. MEM also has the worst shooting team in the league at 41.2%.
The Magic have lost their last 4 games in a row in MEM and 7 of their last 8 overall to MEM. During their 4 game winning streak, the Magic have been shooting well, defending well, rebounding well, and getting outstanding bench play and fairly decent coaching. That formula should hold true tonight. The Magic are 3 1/2 pt favorites (www.pinnaclesports.com).

I am not sure what Hill and Smith are up to with regards to Darko. In order to clean-up his game, he needs to practice with the first unit, which he plays a large portion of his game time with, anyways. We have had a lot of close games that we pulled out, but as time goes by, the law of averages dictate that we will lose some close ones, as well. That is why we need Darko to start alongside Dwight so that we don't have to deal with close games, very often. Memphis's record does not lie, but in a close game, Miller and Atkins can get hot and that could translate to trouble. This game worries me.
