First-place Magic host Carmelo, Nuggets

The first-place Orlando Magic (doesn't that sound good!), at 5-3, will play host to the 3-3 Denver Nuggets, who are coming off a 112-105 win over the Heat last night. Carmelo Anthony led the way with 33 pts. Andre Miller added 29 pts 10 assists.

Carmelo averages 30 ppg for DEN, followed by Miller (16.7 ppg 9.5 assists), J.R. Smith (13.2 ppg), Earl Boykins (11.5 ppg), and Marcus Camby (11.2 ppg, 10.8 rebounds). Kenyon Martin is recovering from knee surgery and is out for several more weeks. Forward Nene has a bruised knee and is questionable for tonight's game. JNelson leads the Magic in scoring now at 16.4 ppg. DHoward is averaging 12.9 rebounds. DEN is averaging 106.5 ppg, and is allowing 104.0 ppg. The Magic is averaging 96.5 ppg, while allowing 95.5 ppg.

The Nuggets are looking for their 4th win in a row after starting the season 0-3. All 3 wins have come on this 4 game road trip, which DEN closes out tonight. However, the Magic have not lost at home to DEN since March of 1992, and have beaten them 13 straight times at TDW. The Magic are looking for their 3rd win in a row, and 5 out of 6 overall. Magic are 3 1/2 pt favorites (www.pinnaclesports.com).

Being on the tail end of a 4-game road trip and playing last night, DEN might be tired enough to lay down and play dead. Wishful thinking. However, the key to the game would be to start fast (as we did in recent games) and get DEN down, early on. Two objectives should be achieved, simultaneously; establish Dwight and stop Carmelo. For the latter, Trevor is gonna be called for duty. Tough match up, but I expect Magic to win 104-93.

With kenyon martin out the magic must establish dwight, but do it after someone has scored a basket and the team gets into a good flow, dwight seems to struggle when we give him the ball to start games,he usually plays much better when we let him get into the games with his rebounding/blocked shots and overall on the ball defense. Grant or hedo should get us going to start the games, that doesnt mean they have to shoot, but they are better and more experienced play makers and can get a shot for someone else if a shot doesnt present itself.
