Magic news for the day

According to an article written by Tim Povtak in TUE's online Sentinel, Tony Battie is officially out for the rest of the season, including the playoffs.

"We flirted with the idea, let him crank up his workouts, but at the end of the day, it's just not in our best interest, his best interest, to play this season," Smith sad. "His shoulder is healed, but he's not 100 percent. We have to think long term. It's a matter now of getting him prepared for next season.

Center Dwight Howard left practice early after getting hit in the mouth by Marcin Gortat during practice. The cut on the inside of his mouth required six stitches.

He is expected to be ready to play in Wednesday's game against Chicago.
