The future of this blog

Since we have lost several contributors from the blog since its beginning in January of 2006, including blog moderator WeRDevos, I am seriously thinking about not continuing our blog any more, since it no longer is thriving like it was when we had more contributors.

Orlando Pinstriped Post provides the best Magic coverage on the internet, and is the best Magic blog without question, and members there are free to comment on any of the posts or even make posts themselves. Matt, I know you read OPP on a regular basis; Big Figure, you should check it out if you haven't already. I've been a member for over two years.

Matt and Big Figure, I appreciate you guys still reading and contributing to this blog, and if you have any comments about this, I'd be interested in hearing (or anyone else for that matter) what you think.

Mike ill check it out. But if this blog is shut down i think it would be a shame. We need somewhere to be able to talk even if its only us three. I wont be as devoted to any other site, may check the sentinel and a few others every now and then but thats about it. I cant say i didnt see this day coming just hoped it wouldnt. The leeches/unintelligent posters have made it un-fun as well lately so mike whatever you decide to do im on board with.

You said it, Big Figure. It seems like for the last month, I've been spending over 10 minutes a day deleting all the trolls' comments. That's why I had to shut down the comments section on my last several posts; the trolling was getting out of hand. It's really discouraging when there are more trolls commenting on here than Magic fans.

It makes it tough also since blog moderator WeRDevos bailed out on us. I have no ability to update all the widgets he put in on the right side of the blog (like updating the season schedule), so last season's schedule can't be deleted and the new schedule won't be able to be put up.

In addition to WeRDevos, we've lost several key contributors who added a lot to the blog (like Overwaded and Ken; I've seen Overwaded comment on OPP a few times).

I appreciate the intelligent comments by other readers of the blog also, but those are getting to be few and far between.

Like I said, I'm leaning toward discontinuing this blog for all the reasons I stated; I don't know if it would be worth it to keep this blog going just for the three of us. I'm waiting to see what Matt has to say.

Big Figure, I would hope you would join OPP and comment on there; you know your basketball for sure. I hope Matt would do the same thing.

    Mike:

This blog, in my view, has offered what no other blog could and would offer. However, I understand your position. If the blog gets to continue, you need to get in touch with WeRDevos and attain full administrative rights. Then you need to recruit some contributors who commit to regular contribution.

I wish I had the time to run this blog as a business, but I don't. You need to look at how you could: 1) expand the blog; and 2) market it. The business idea has to be researched and a "business plan" developed. I can devise a business plan but do not have the time to do the research.

No matter what you decide there is no reason for shutting the blog down. You may leave it inactive until a decision is made on what to do with it. e-mail me at sjam1325@ gamil.com if you wish. Delete the e-mail out of the post after you read it. Good luck.

Matt and Big Figure... thanks for your input on the matter, and thanks for the complementary words.

I wish I could get in touch with WeRDevos, but he doesn't have his e-mail address on his profile.

Last year, I thought we were going to move our blog to MVN, who invited us to do that. I guess WeRDevos said no to that idea.

It would be really hard to recruit other contributors to this blog, since most Magic fans are members of OPP. BQR, the moderator of OPP, does a superior job in all his analysis and statistical postings on there, way better than I ever could on this blog. I'm just an amateur statistician who enjoys working with numbers trying to combine that with my passion for Orlando Magic Basketball, but I admittedly don't do anywhere near the professional job that BQR does on OPP.

I would really hate having to discontinue this blog after 4 1/2 years, but as long as OPP is thriving and is so popular and this blog is dwindling so significantly in popularity, I don't know what else to do.

Matt and Big Figure, I've always enjoyed discussing Magic Basketball with you guys. We haven't always agreed on stuff, but we all have one major thing in common and that is we are passionate Magic fans who want the best for the team.

I could start a new blog for the three of us to discuss the Magic, but to be honest, I don't know if it would be worth it if it's just going to be us three. It would be hard to market the blog also when there's OPP, which is one of the best sports blogs out there.

I'll still wait before I make a final decision; Matt, thanks for leaving your e-mail.

I'm shutting off the comments so I don't have to waste more time deleting the trolls' remarks.

My e-mail address is coolguymike1@gmail.com if anyone wants to forward any additional comments to me.
