DAL comes to TDW to visit the Magic
One of the top teams in the league record-wise, the Mavericks (54-18, 24-12 road), will test the Magic (28-44, 20-14 home) tonight. The Mavs are trying to avert a season-high three-game losing streak, and have lost 4 out of their last 6 games as they try to catch the Spurs for the best record in the West. The Magic are going for their seventh win in a row at home.
Dirk Nowitski, having another super year, is averaging 26.4 ppg and 8.8 rebs. Five other players average in double figures; Jason Terry (17.2 ppg), Josh Howard (15.5 ppg), Jerry Stackhouse (13.1 ppg), Marquis Daniels (10.4 ppg), and Devin Harris (10 ppg). Keith Van Horn (9 ppg) also contributes. Former Magic G Darrell Armstrong has played in 53 games, averaging 1.9 ppg. As a team, DAL averages 99.2 ppg, while allowing 93 ppg.
DAL has won 5 of its last 6 games over the Magic, including an OT win in December. A key stat: DAL is only 6-12 this season when allowing 100+ pts. During the Magic's current 6 game home-winning streak, they are averaging 103.7 pts and shooting 53.6% from the field. They need to keep that pace up tonight for the chance at the upset. DAL is a 4 1/2 pt favorite (www.pinnaclesports.com).

Dirk's gonna take alot of shots and pretty much get his,so making sure guys like JTerry,JHoward,EDampier & MDaniels dont kill us is most important, this magic team plays tough at home,so it wont be "easy" for the mavs to come in here and think they'll end their losing streak,if they think that, its gonna be a long night for them b/c the magic will scrapp in our building, and some of the guys are gonna be looking to bounce back at home, like Jameer & dwight for starters!

Agreed, Nowitski is gonna score his points one way or another. We just can't let the rest of them kick out butts. I also hope BSH reminds the team about Darrel. He's their energy guy off the bench and can be deadly with those 3 pointers. And he'd prolly love nothing more than to come back to TDW and light up his old coach.

I don't think controlling Nowitzki matters as much as controlling Josh Howard and Jason Terry. We don't have good match-ups against those two, and we would only be successful if we pressure them particularly on their defensive ends, meaning good offense from Jameer and Hedo. I don't see Magic winning this one, and if they do that would be a pleasant surprise.

Matt, with all due respect, what are you talking about? I stated that nowitski is gonna get his, which means we shouldnt focus on stopping him,so we "should" focus on not letting guys like "the four i mentioned"(Jterry,Jhoward,MDaniels & EDampier) beat us,then omar agreed, you come back with "i dont think controlling nowitski matters as much as controlling JHoward and JTerry.",i'd like to know where controlling nowitski was suggested? Seems like you didnt read the posts, and kinda made up your own debate with what we already acknowledge was the best strategy, saying "i dont" would suggest you were going against something, but then saying "what matters "is" controlling JTerry & JHoward,is exactly what i said in my first post,so i'm lost at what you were actually trying to get across?

Big Figure, by mentioning Nowitzki I was basically re-affirming your views, as a matter of factly, then putting in my dime. I never said that I am disagreeing with anybody.

No prob,i was just asking b/c the way it started off i didnt know if that was re-affirming or debating, but no biggie! OH yeah, magic steal one from dallas!
