Nice to see Vince Carter have a good shooting game, shooting 6 of 9 from the field and 3 of 5 from long range.

Probably Jameer Nelson's best game also, with the 9 assists and 12 points.

No matter what lineup and player rotation the Magic have used so far in the preseason, they have played very well.

J.J. Redick, who has had a solid preseason, was given the night off and the Magic still did not miss a beat.

I think Jason Williams has solidified his standing as the first PG off the bench with another good performance of 6 points and 8 assists.

Raw plus/minus can be a deceiving stat, but Pietrus was an amazing +48 and Gortat +32.

Magic will have several days before their next game Monday in Chicago.

and enjoy that this Magic team is 11 deep (not counting Grandpa's 44 minutes) and an easy 5-0 in preseason.

Newcomers VC, Anderson, Barnes, Bass and Williams all seem to be positive contributors. That is amazing. there are too many turnovers, but the Magic under SVG always have too many turnovers. Chemistry seems fine.

Can't wait for the season to start.

I've been on vacation in Las Vegas, and Thursday night I checked out the Lakers/Kings preseason game at the Thomas and Mack Center here.

It was just like a Lakers' home game, with the Lakers' PA announcer, the Laker Girls, and all the gold and purple Lakers' jerseys in the crowd, and them yelling "MVP" every time Kobe Bryant went to the FT line.

I guarantee I was the only one wearing a Magic 2009 Eastern Conference Championship T-Shirt.

The Lakers looked pretty good, with Bryant and Andrew Bynum leading them in scoring. They had a 85-63 lead near the end of the third quarter, but the second team did not look good as the Kings cut the Lakers' lead to three points with under two minutes remaining.

The Lakers held on to win 98-92.

As I was leaving the arena, a carful of Lakers' fans reminded me that the Lakers beat the Magic for the ring in the Finals.

Maybe this season things will be different!

First things first though... it's a long season, and the Magic have to get out of the East first.
