Update on the status of Jameer Nelson
LOS ANGELES - Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson isn't likely to play tonight in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the L.A. Lakers, but he is expected to be activated and dress out, the Sentinel has learned. The chance of him playing in the series is still remote.
Nelson has been feverishly trying to come back early from Feb. 19 shoulder surgery.
The Magic have been evaluating his progress the last few days, and it appeared he might be a long shot to play after returning to practice this week.
Nelson was two months ahead of his projected six-month rehab schedule and had increased the intensity of his workouts the past three weeks, he did not participate in his first formal practice with the Magic until last Tueday in Orlando. He also worked out with the team in L.A. on Wednesday.

I'm sure the Magic braintrust will do what's best for Jameer; no sense in playing him if it's going to jeopardize his rehab from the torn labrum surgery.

Agreed, if the magic made it this far without jameer they are perfectly fine. Him getting into uniform will give them a shit load of boost to help them on the road though, gl magic and I hope they can take the 1st game.

To be honest i think jameer's only set back will be rust. Fisher couldnt stay with jameer in either of the first two games and there's nothing wrong with jameers legs. If jameer is healthy enough to practice hard, then playing a finesse team like the lakers wont be to physically demanding on his body. But whatever we'll see,we know he's dressing so maybe he'll get in. Jameer or AJ,i'll take a 90% jameer seeing as how its a shoulder and not a leg injury.

Couple things tonight. (1) Dwight must attack bynum and gasol. Dwight cannot let either one of these guys guard him one-on-one,if the lakers dont have to double and were only getting one shot at the rim it'll keep our point production way down. When we go inside dwight needs to draw fouls or make shots bottom line. (2) RA needs to dominate the PG match-up. Kobe can outscore your whole back-court by himself,CL has a big defensive task so RA needs to be aggressive and take it to fisher to kinda equal things out. If the lakers are dominating the back-court it'll be hard for the magic to match their point production. (3) No lay-ups or second shots. The lakers are just a bigger and more mobile version of cleveland. They feed off of steals and second shots. If the magic can keep them from getting lay-ups and turn them into a one-man jumpshooting team,it'll be hard for kobe to get his teammates involved and down the stretch is when he's gonna need them. Lets play our game, play tough defense and will win game one.
