No Wade, No Shaq, No JWill for Heat makes for easy Magic win

Despite missing GHill (sore foot) and Keyon Dooling (sore achilles tendon), the Magic (18-14, 11-6 home) cruised past the injury-riddled Heat (13-17, 5-9 road) 97-68. Eleven of the twelve players for the Magic scored in this game.

DHoward led the way with 18 pts, 10 rebs; TBattie 12 pts, and HTurkoglu 11 pts. TAriza led the bench with 16 pts 10 rebs, including several highlight-reel drives to the basket. J.J. Redick scored a career-high 9 pts in 12 second-half minutes. KBogans, starting for GHill, added 9 pts. Jason Kapono led MIA with 15 pts (4 of 4 3 pt FG), and Dorell Wright added 12 pts.

The Magic (33 of 74, 44.6%) outscored MIA (23 of 67, 34.3%) from the field 70-53. The Magic shot 4 of 13 from 3 pt range, while the Heat shot 7 of 16. The Magic (27 of 33) had a big advantage at the FT line (MIA 15 of 17). The Magic dominated the boards 46-33. The Magic had their best AST/TO ratio of the season at 23-8, while MIA's was just 17-15. The Magic bench outscored the Heat bench 40-28.

Nice way to close out the calendar year for the Magic with a rare blow-out win. This was the Magic's first double-digit win since a 94-84 win at SEA on NOV 29th. Magic get two days off, then host the LA Clippers TUE night.

Hopefully we can put a few wins together before this west coast trip, elton brand was superman the last time we played the clippers,so weve got to play better defensively against him, then the bobcats and celtics come to town,we should be able to get all these games but i'll take two out of three.

First off, I'm not new to the blog. I'm the guy formally known as introvert316. It's the end of 2006 and we're coming off a nice victory over the Miami Heat. I was finally able to sport one of my OVERWADED shirts to a Heat game. I could have been happier if we actually beat a team worthy of being in the NBA; as the Miami Heat without Shaq and Wade are about as good as a WNBA team. Anyway, I figured what better of a time than now to change my name. If any of you ever see a guy at the RDV or Magic game wearing an OVERWADED shirt, you’ll know it’s me. Ha-ha.

OK, onto the game... As I said, was able to attend once again. This time I was in section 201, center court, in upper bowl. They were actually great seats. I almost caught 3 shirts when they were blasting them in the 4th, but I would have had to fight for them, and I just didn't care. Overall, it was a very boring game to attend. Things didn't liven up until the 4th. Once Redick hit the floor, the buzz never left the building. Actually, when he checked in at the end of the 3rd, that was pretty much the loudest the crowd had been all night. He put on a nice performance. We've now been able to see Redick play in a total of 4 games. He's gotten better in each of them. Regardless if he was playing against scrubs, the guy can flat out shoot the ball. I mean really, have you ever seen a better looking shot? He looked a lot more comfortable on the floor and could really help this team out right now. Why is this guy not earning a little real court time?

I took a look at the month of January, as Big Figure was mentioning the upcoming schedule. If the Magic are healthy, get a little confidence back, and start playing some basketball, they should have a really good month. There are a few tough games against the Lakers, Suns, and Cavs on the road. We also play Dallas at home which will be tough. Beyond that, we play a bunch of .500 or below teams. Let’s hope January is a lot better than December and more like November.

Mr. overwaded, why the change of name? I liked your old name, plus your new name is kinda limited in scope.

January is a tough month, and by the end of the month, I expect the Magic to be at 500, which is where they belong with the below average coaching. Don't get me wrong, the sky is the limit with this team when it comes to talent, but they have been shackled by a so-called coach that is clueless. I hope that I am wrong and Magic will do better than I predicted, but what is the upside if they do better, meaning that we are stuck with Hill a lot longer. I am at a point that I will take a losing season if it ends at firing Hill some point in the season, hoping it is not too late to make to the play-offs, because in all honesty, I don't see us making to the play-offs with the current trend.
