Stevenson has knee surgery

Daytona Beach News-Journal Online -- Sports

Just a guess. We will know if the surgery went well if DeShawn opts out of his contract. He has until July 1 to decide.

Otis must be busy compiling a list of SG free agents, draft picks and potential trades.

Rumor has Cory Maggette available this summer for a lottery pick so Clippers can resign Cassell and Vlad.

Why are the Clippers willing to give up Cory Maggette? I know there was that "issue" in the season when they tried to trade him for Artest, and the deal fell through because of Maggette's injury, but what else? He's been pretty sweet coming off the bench in the playoffs. He really should be starting. As for them getting rid of him so they can resign an aging Sam and Vlad, is that really worth it? Sam is a great VET, but I don't know...

I looked and can't find the reference now. The rumor was the Clippers would take a lottery pick from an Atlanta, Charlotte or other team below the cap that could take Maggette's salary without having to send contracts back. The reasoning being they want to sign Cassell to 2 yrs $10mil/yr plus they like Radmanovic starting and he's likely to ask for Maggette type salary. The way Cassell is if Clips try to lowball him he'll do something spiteful like sign with the Lakers.

Magic don't have cap space to take Maggette for only a pick, but could give a lottery pick and expiring contracts like Garrity, Stevenson, Outlaw, Diener, etc.

Unless they get a top three pick I'd prefer seeing a trade for an NBA veteran to fill SG needs.

Playoffs are going great this year. I'm still hoping Detroit ultimately loses for lack of a backup PG and big man.
