NBA's best team, DET, to test Magic at TDW

The Pistons, coming off a big win Thursday night over MIA, come into Orlando tonight with a league-best 61-14 record (and a league-best 27-11 on the road). The Magic (30-44, 22-14 home) have won 6 of their last 7, 10 out of their last 14, and 8 home games in a row.

Richard Hamilton leads DET with 20.4 ppg. Chauncey Billups (19.0 ppg, 8.7 assists), Rasheed Wallace (15.6 ppg), and Tayshaun Prince (14.3 ppg) all average in double figures. Big Ben Wallace averages 11.6 rebs and 2.2 blocks. The Pistons average 97.1 ppg, while giving up 89.9 ppg. The Magic average 94.7 ppg, whie allowing 96.4 ppg.

DET holds a 3 game lead with 7 games left over SA for the league's best record and home-court advantage through the playoffs. They might be due for a letdown tonight after the big win against MIA last night; and the Magic are certainly capable of winning this game. However, don't expect the Magic to score over 100 pts or shoot 50+% against a great defense like DET. Also, DET has beaten the Magic 10 of the last 12 meetings. No line out for the game yet (www.pinnaclesports.com).

The Magic's "tragic number" to being eliminated from the playoffs is 4. Any Chicago win or Magic loss reduces the number by 1.

I guess after having an off night in the last outing, Jameer would be a key in this game. He should keep doing what made the team successful ... attack, attack, attack. Having that said, I think the best defensive match up against Billups is Keyon. Hedo's match up with Prince should be interesting, as well. I think Magic has a chance to win this one, since they take pride in protecting home-court advantage. GO MAGIC!!!

I agree, the pistons will have their hands full with this team, jameer should bounce back, and if he attacks chauncey off the dribble thats the best defense "he" can provide,i worry about carlos and darko wanting to play well and doing to much, hopefully the rest of the guys will help keep their game in line, magic are rested and the pistons played last night,so my edge would have to go to the magic, but if any team could come in here and get a win it would be detroit, they're gonna feel like they have a mental edge b/c of their "little brothers" (carlso, darko)so the guys are gonna have to show early that we're not scared off them, but rather we're testing ourselves against them to see where we are against the best,if magic win it'll obviously be close.......

It's a good thing the Pistons are coming off a win last night in Miami. If they lost, they'd be taking it out on us tonight. So they might not be totally prepared, even though that isn't going to hurt them all to much because they are that good. After winning as many as we have at home, I should expect a loss, especially against Detroit. But, for the Magic, a team trying to prove points and make an impact late in the season, this is the only way they can do that. I'm gonna say the Magic show up big tonight. Dwight needs to be a monster on the boards. Battie and Darko need to hold their own. We either need 2 solid performances from Arroyo and Nelson, or a big performance from Nelson. He usually responds well when he struggles in the prior game. Overall, defense and rebounding is what will keep us in the game. If we have that going, I expect some solid offensive performances from the likes of Nelson and Hedo. Magic by 3...

    Magic have a chance because:

    1. They no longer pound the ball into the floor. They are not yet a great passing team but could be by this time next year. (Anyone miss Steve-O, even the slightest bit?)

    2. It's Latin Night at the TDW tonight baby! Hopefully that will be positive for Carlos.

    3. Magic have a better bench. That is, thanks to Detroit the Magic have a better bench. Here's hoping Detroit lose in the finals for lack of a quality backup pg

    4. Magic have not lost at home since February. Why start now?

    5. Detroit thinks they get the night off after beating Heat.

    6. Darko is a young god.

    7. Jameer couldn't possibly have a worse game than against Milwaukee.

Stevo-O, who???? is he that comedian or something that was on the Jimmy Kimmel show a while back?

Magic have a very good chance to steal one tonight against the team with the best record.. But I think Dwight is gonna have his hands full with the 2 Wallace's, Darko and TBattie will have to have big games also.. I'm sure Darko and Carlos would love nothing more than to come out and show what they can do, maybe not so much Carlos, but I'll bet Darko would love to show them what they traded away. I look for Jameer to come out smokin after what happened in the Mil game. Jameer has alot of pride and won't allow that to happen 2 games in a row. Should be a fun game to watch...
