Possible Magical picks in 2nd round

The Orlando Magic don't have a first-round pick in this year's draft. They do, however, have two second-round picks -- No. 44 and No. 54. C Stanko Barac (Bosnia-Herzegovina): May be a draft-and-stay-in-Europe-for-another-year player. C Aaron Gray (Pitt): Solid in low post, but mechanical and lacks athleticism. F Demetris Nichols (Syracuse): Good scorer, but not a low-post type. G Ramon Sessions (Nevada): Should've remained for senior season but has potential. C Kyle Visser (Wake Forest): Had big senior season but appears to be journeyman-type talent. If you want to join in all the fun, the Magic will have a draft party at The Clubhouse (100 E. Pine St.) beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and fans can watch an exclusive live feed from the Magic's draft room at the RDV Sportsplex, in addition to the televised draft from New York. Beer and wings will be available.

Well here we go,the only thing that i hope doesnt happen is,that we dont pick a player or players that dont want to come over and play now, with all the european players in this years draft its possible now more than ever. Obviously we all know what happened with vasquez we dont need another one of those tonight. With JJ and JAugustine ready to take the shooting guard and Power forward spot respectively on our summer league team,it would be smart to put two players with them that can help the starting five become a better starting five on the summer league team. These two second round picks couldnt be in a better situation seeing as how they'll play for a good summer league team. I'd like to see a point guard and small forward/center be taken with those picks, then you'd have our four most recents picks manning starting positions on our summer league team, that would be great exposure to the game for those picks and more court action for JJ and James.

For me, from a Magic standpoint, it's hard to get excited about tonight's draft. Last year's second round pick, James Augustine, saw action in what, two games last season? I always thought he was a decent player at Illinois, and maybe he can be ready to play a bigger role with the Magic this season. It's doubtful that whoever the Magic take in the second round tonight will see any meaningful game action this coming season.

I haven't read anything about the Magic wanting to re-sign former second round pick Travis Diener. That's too bad; I think he's going to make a heck of a player for some team. All he needs is a chance to play in every game. In limited action with the Magic, he showed he could help the team, especially with his dead-eye shooting, but would always wind up at the end of the bench thanks to Brian Hill.

Just saw online that the Magic have traded their 54th pick in the draft to HOU in exchange for cash considerations.

The Magic now have only one draft pick at No. 44.

Speaking of the draft... We might actually land a 1st round pick this summer.

    Diario Sur Reports:

Fran Vazquez: "I'm ready to make the jump. I'm happy in Barcelona. I've learned a lot with Dusko Ivanovic, but I've made the decision to go to the NBA due to the interest Orlando has shown again all these months."

Orlando should look at drafting Aaron Brooks. Maybe the fastest player with ball in his hands in the draft. Great shooter with good on the ball defense.

If Fran Vasquez comes over this season, how will it affect Darko re-signing with the Magic?

We need a 4th big man regardless. However, if we lose Darko, the timing couldn't be better. I have a feeling Lewis is #1 on the Magic's list, and Darko is #2. I can't argue that; Lewis is proven, Darko isn't. Still, I really hope they can find a way to make it work and sign both of them. As I feel we'll live to regret letting Darko go if we do so.
